Mourne Wall, stretching 22 miles & built between 1094 & 1922. Constructed of local granite using drystone wall techniques. Passing over 15 mountains, protecting reservoir water.

This photograph shows the detail of the Mourne Wall, stretching 22 miles long & built between 1904 and 1922. Constructed entirely of granite from local quarries, it passes over 15 mountains and was designed to keep farm animals away from the rivers and reservoir.

Annalong Harbour - 2016 Calendar


Annalong Harbour is the oldest working harbour along the South Down coast and has now been deepened to allow access for yachts. The sheltered Harbour has provided safe and secure facilities for yachts. Annalong harbour dates back to the early 1800s and was made to allow boats to carry granite to English cities and import materials used to build the nearby dam at Silent Valley.
